Working from a photograph, I lightly draw the figure and scene using a #2 pencil. Normally, I do my original draft in charcoal. However, I wanted to get a little more initial detail included. It is possible to get good detail in charcoal, but it would have called for me to constantly sharpen my charcoal stick. I guess I was having a lazy day.
